Joey is sold to the cavalry when the war breaks out, and a heartbroken Albert goes in search of his beloved horse. Joey and Albert are reunited, but not before they experience both the horror of war and heartwarming acts of kindness from the people they meet along their way home. This much-loved children's book became a theatrical success in London and New York, and attracted the attention of director Steven Spielberg who has brought the live action film War Horse to the screen in December 2011.
