This K'NEX Gear Kit introduces individuals and small groups of children to important technical concepts in a fun and accessible way. With 143 coloured rods and connectors that can be assembled instantly, this building kit for kids can help promote understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math.
Once assembled, a downloadable booklet guides students through 3 interactive, research-based experiments on each of the models. Students will learn more about transmission configurations, gear ratios, RPMs, the load-to-power ratio, and much more! The guide for the experiment is aligned with the national STEM standard and is suitable for level 2/3.
The kit examines three real transmission models – a car window, a crankshaft and a whisk – to illustrate the principles of rotational energy and transmissions in an exciting and vivid way. The kit can also be added to a larger K'NEX collection after use.
With easy-to-follow instructions and worksheets, this tech set is for both independent play and guided learning, ensuring to delight all aspiring STEM students ages 8 and up
